I personally think Talica 25II is out of it's league with 400lb class fish in the mix, Talica 50II is probably the next logical choice if you're going with Shimano. Otherwise, the Makaira 20/30 are your best bet. Makaira 20 is same height as 30, but narrower version.Totally depends on brand and batch. Whats the depth that far from land?I have used two Xzoga jigging rods: 1) Taka-SA S500-170 500g PE6-PE10 Max Drag 20KG. 2) BlackBuster BB-59S 300g PE4-6 Max Drag 15KG. Both performed as expected with the stated specs. The 500g rod is a monster with a very parabolic springy feel to the bend. The 300g rod has a very crisp light feel to the bend and action.
